Title: hi all at oof, im thinking of geting an elite

hi guys been thinking of getting an elite which is up for sale near me

only had a lil look at it and a chat with the owner who reckons it is heating one of the cats up to much

could i solve this problem easily,

also what mpg could i expect?

a new cat could cost a lot of money........are you sure thats what he said??

Concerning fuel consumption, which engine is it, and transmission? 2.5, 2.6, 3.0, 3.2?

overheating cat quite often caused by a misfire sending unburnt fuel into it,is the engine warning light on ?

from what the guy said he had new cats put on it but the problem was still there,, didnt have much time to chat with the guy today but plan on taking the car for a spin soon

Could well be a simple fault like a faulty plug, lead or coil pack, for example.

However, if it's been run for long enough for the cat to overheat you should bank on the possibility that it'll need changing to get through an emissions test.

Worth taking a paperclip along and flashing out the fault codes when you see it. :y
