If you need any more reassurance that it's the crank sensor, my car used to do almost the same thing. It kept running when hot, but if I turned the engine off it wouldn't start again until the engine was fully cold. Got me stuck in a few very inconvenient places!
As said above, don't get a cheapie one off ebay, get a genuine one  :y

This is uncanny.
I just drove 10miles and my car cut out at 70ish... dead like I'd turned the key off.
Just did the paper clip and then came top the site and see this thread!
My codes are 19 and 145.   I don't see why 145 (imobiliser wrong signal) is coming up.  perhaps cause i was thinking it was this and started locking and unlocking to reset imobiliser.  I may have started the engine with the car locked. )

So am I to also assume that if I have 19 then this will be why it cut out?   It stopped,  I had to wait 10mins then it started again.  and so on till I got home.   Annoying.
Do we have the part number to hand so I can call VX to get the correct part?

Well typical VX.  No idea what I need.  THREE different parts available for this car... Found the one I need by looking at the Bosch part number on the Sensor itself.  (0261210131) This translates to VX part - 90540743.  Just shy of £70+vat or £48.73 INC vat with my Autobahnstormers Trade card.  Result.
It's just started to cane it down with rain now so I'll be fitting this tomorrow.
Gazomega I hope this fixes yours and mine.  :-)  (Embarrasing sat at lights with cars backing up on you...  :-[)
