Title: Wipers not parking in correct position
Post by: Missy_MV6 on 03 April 2010, 22:16:53
Hi,went to look at an early facelift MV6 today and the wipers are sat approx a quarter way up the windscreen. The owner said they were fine until after he had been down the motorway..When you switch them on it wipes fine but then they come to rest too far up..Will it be a simple fix ??

should be, had this myself, nut comes loose on wiper motor, snow on the screen forced mine round, remove scuttle, loosen nut on wiper motor, set wipers in correct position re tighten nut.

Yes and at no cost. Remove the whole wipr assembly, 3 or 4 sel tappers, be carefull of the paint on your drriver's wing. Fastened to the wiper motor itself is an arm. This arm converts the rotary motion of the motor to a backwards & forwards motion of the wipers them selves. The nut that holds the arm on the motor has come lose. If you look, you'll see >   < on the casting below the arm. The arm should sit bewteen these marks when parked. I replaced the nut with a selflocking nut (nyloc) only because I had a box full.  :y

should add, small arm to motor will need to be prized off motor spindle before the wipers can be reset, no biggy though.

Prised off? The nut's come loose allowing the arm to spin on the splined taper, it won't need much prising  ;)  ;) ;)
