i broke my mind reading gadget other day, what engine do you have? Assume its 2.0 for a 8v Cav sensor to remotely work
-
Yes its 2ltr 16valve ecotech

crank sensor is very rare failure on 4pot, have you had codes read?

yes my mate came over with his machine and it said crank sensor faulty hence new purchase from vauxhall. guy at counter says that 90458251 is only one he does for my car but it dont work.
-
can you list all the codes that were read? Things like failing cam sensor, which is much more likey on 4pot, can cause other random codes
-
no sorry dont remember codes but it did list AFM which i replaced with brand new one and have also replaced new coil pack.
-
Post up results of paperclip test
-
just been to my local vx dealer explained the situation . cant believe they cant help ,nothin else they can do for me .so where do i go from here HELP PLEASE.

worth updating your profile with your location, some of our members might be near you with tech2

crank sensor is very rare failure on 4pot, have you had codes read?
Your kidding right...more common than V6 failures!

I've seen hardly any fail! Its always cam! Both our 2.2's never had crank sensors go but cam...

You will curse when your crank sensor fails, and ask why didn't GM make it as easy as a V6 one ;)
-
CHANGING THE CRANK SENSOR ON MINE TAKES LITERALLY 5 MINS. how do i do paper clip test and would i do it with new sensor in or my 8valve one ????

I still stand by their reliability, its always cam sensor 4 pot, crank on 6 pot

See maintence guides section, its in there :y

On most Omegas you don't need expensive equipment to read the fault codes, you just need a paper clip.
Read all about it here The Paperclip Test (http://www.omegaowners.com/forum/YaBB.pl?num=1189022687) and then tell us what the codes are :y
-
ok guys happy easter to all . so i didnt do paper clip test instead had my mate stick his diagnostic machine on car all it says is wrong rpm signal this was verified with my brohters mate who has just bought a new snap on machine and it came up wiht the exacy same message. also bouhgt new camshaft sensor to no avail think next step is the scrappies.
-
Mate, do the paperclip test and post the results on here - it's easy to do and some of the experts on here may be able to spot something that your mate hasn't. Give it a go, surely better than scrapping it??
It may be something simple.. :y
-
Don't go by half guessed descriptions .. do the test and give us the CODE NUMBERS .. you will then get the correct advice .. :)

Beleave me , the 4 pot ones are worse....and on the 2.0 also cause cam sensor incorrect signal errors with no crank sensor fault code!
Chuffing nightmare!
-
As the list states 2 possible crank sensors for the 2.0 16v perhaps the car falls into the later category and the crank sensor is the wrong one??
-
have already checked out other crank sensor it has different fittment plug will try and do paper clip test today
-
ok lads just done paper clip test .......... results are code 19 whits wrong with it boys
-
If it was a V6 I would know .. crank sensor .. but as its a 4 pot ... I'll leave it to an expert .. :)
-
I'm not an expert, but code 19 on a 4 pot is: Incorrect RPM signal (crankshaft sensor), check sensor. HTH :y
