Yes it's grey - not black, and no amount of Back-to-Black, TurtleWax Black or Black Trim wipes will make it black again, so I'm thinking of colour-coding them instead.
Apart from the usual sanding with wet-n-dry do I need to apply any other preparation to the plastic to stop the primer reacting with it? I'll be using Holts primer & main colour (Polar Blue) just need to get the lacquer.

Use one of the black Shoe Polish Creme type things... Goes black again like a treat :y

Or peanut butter spread, the smooth stuff. :y

I've heard that using a paint stripper heat gun on the trim can help restore it back to black. Never had the guts to try it myself - but take a look on some of the more chavvy forums and you might see the technique...

I've heard that too for similar aged Corsas ;)

Just be sure to wipe any excess off after about 10 minutes. If the trim is in really bad shape you may need a couple of coats, but it will last ages :y
