Title: Loose pipe connection on a/c
Post by: Boatboy on 15 April 2010, 20:59:51
Just before it disappears under the scuttle the steel pipe goes into a fitting of some sort. The pipe can twist in that fitting and I wonder if that is right before I go and get the gas filled following my new (new to me) condenser installation.

mine was the same untill I had the system regassed, the pressure will tighten the joint, obviously if it leaks you will have to replace the seals

Its a quick release coupling (but only if you have the special tool) which uses O rings to provide the seal. It should be free to rotate.
If there is any slackness in-line with the pipe it suggests the joint has been dismantled at some time and not re-assembled correctly.

Cheers for that , it's rotating movement not in and out, so guess it should be Ok and the recharge might lock it all in place.
