Had a really good day out today and all of a sudden I can now hear a humming noise in the car...
After further investigation with the radio off and heaters off etc etc... I decided to have a walk around the car and located this humming noise coming from between the front passenger wheel and passenger door....
The noise is only about when the ignition is turned on...
Would someone please try and shed some light on this??? I
thought it might be the egr valve but that's by the passenger side front bumper...
-
SAI pump?
-
hardly anything on passenger side that could humm like that so far back, does the pitch of the hum change on revs?
-
SAI pump?
Thought that, but that switches off after about 30 seconds, and thats up by the front bumper :-/
-
SAI pump?
Most likely, unplug it to double check and if it is, leave it unplugged.
-
Blower motor?
Ah, no, you said heaters etc. off. :-[

Look up between the front passenger wheel and the bumper, you'll see a multi-plug. Unplug it :y

blower motor can run with ignition off if regulator caput.

Right I went out about 20 minutes ago and there's no noise now and I haven't disconected anything..
Will check it again in the morning to see if it does it again..
-
Check that one of the cooling Fans asnt seized thes do run on after ign off
-
Right..
After a few days of searching around the car and disconnecting things, I still have this intermittent humming noise..
Would it be the gearbox cooling fan??

Stop making lunatic guesses and describe this noise more accurately,as in always making a noise, engine not running, before starting, after engine has run etc. etc.Noise off immediately with ignition off?Can be heard from where exactly as in can you hear it still when sat in the car or only out of it etc.?
-
I think it might be one of the little people.
-
It's very faint in the car coming from passenger footwell area, when I go outside the car it's around the back of the front nearside wheelarche and when the ignition or engine is on....
-
SAI pump as already said or rad fan or cabin fan ?????
-
And always goes off immediately when the ignition is turned off?,also stand where you hear the noise and get someone to turn the ignition on and see does it start immediately, prior to turning the engine on.
-
Nesting Seagulls?? They can be pretty noisy this time of year.... ;D ;D ;D

He's in Sidmouth so it'll be a Folk singer who can't remember the words to the song!
You find them in the Anchor or the Radway, usually during the first week of August every year :D :D

done these checks today, definately not the rad fan, all blowers off, checked the egr valve..
It's intermittent goes on with ignition and off with ignition... As I've said previously it's not all the time and definately the passenger footwell area of car but rear of wheel arch area if that makes sense!!!
