Title: Crankshaft sensor info and how to test
Post by: Goonybird on 02 May 2010, 11:56:48
Posted elsewhere re: starting problems on an X25XE. It appears Crank sensor is worth looking at as advised.
These should answer various queries I have seen posted on here recently.
I have trawled internet and come up with these snippets:

This is how to test a sensor:
http://www.vauxhallownersnetwork.co.uk/showthread.php?39425-Vectra-How-to-check-a-V6-crank-sensor

Also from another forum, the crank sensor itself is earthed through where it connects to the block. So worth removing sensor and cleaning faces of sensor and block to ensure a good connection.

Hope it doesn't contravene Forum regs posting links to other forums.  :-/

Crank sensors do give abit of bother,
Ensure ignition is switched off
Disconnect CKP sensor multi plug
Check resistance between terminals 1 and 2 with an ohm meter... should be between 500 - 800
