Title: Wishbone life expectancy

What are various peoples experiences with how long lower front wishbones last?

I'm sure mine are the originals @ 74k .......

Post by: cmeonthemove on 03 May 2010, 08:35:34: Just changed my fronts (well Daz did) after 118k, judging by the state of them I think these were the originals. You'll know if they're on their way out by a knocking noise on speed bumps or rough ground.

I do have a new set of Lemforders I found going at a good price some months ago along with drop links,but have not got around to fitting them as the strange noise I had back in the depths of winter going over bumps from cold has now gone,so have not had cause to do them as yet.

Post by: MickAP on 03 May 2010, 10:13:34: Estate tractors bones are ok, droplinks maybe need doing :-/ as recently said it's just passed MOT last week. All originals from info I have on the SH 117k

Saloon feels much tighter up front, so the're good just a new steering idler on there, so everything on there original 92k.

my migs 9 years old with just over 91K on the clock, had to replace front wishbones last week as it failed its MOT due to them. Got new ones on and the front end feels much tighter and precis.

Post by: dbr on 03 May 2010, 20:03:06: 1997 saloon 134k done last sept. Ruined a good tyre, a bead of canvas appeared after the journey from Alicante.... No thumping now. Do both sides. I changed the original shocks as well.

The next Elite had a set of 'Buy parts By' wishbones on that lasted less than 5K and were completely shot (would never go near the place for wishbones again). Now has GM wishbones with Meryle bushes and Delphi ball joints and is much much better (Just a bit of effort to refurbish them).

The Tractor has genuine Lemforder wishbones on it which i'm hoping will last well.

They should see me out I reckon!!!!!!! ;D
