please click this to view, after you've read my post (http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=190391839065&ru=http%3A%2F%2Fshop.ebay.co.uk%3A80%2F%3F_from%3DR40%26_trksid%3Dp4712.m570.l1313%26_nkw%3D190391839065%26_sacat%3DSee-All-Categories%26_fvi%3D1&_rdc=1)
Advertised as having a lot of the major work done, headgasket, rocker covers, cambelt, filters changed, plugs, leads and all the lot, 11 months MOT and 4 months tax still on
when i test drove it, it had a very lumpy idle, which was there when warm too, cruise control worked fine and kicked the gearbox down well but without cruise when i floored the pedal on the motorway it only kicked down one gear even with sport mode on, didnt rev too high either, and even at steady speeds 60+ and 40 or lower through town, just holding it lightly on the pedal still only gave low 20mpg on the instant consumption
any ideas why??
-
probably needs the air, fuel filter changed icv cleaned etc :y
-
It's been maintained by a chimp?
-
I'll give you £50 for it Danny ;) ;D ;D
Same colour as mine and I want new doors ;) :P
-
i didnt pay for it i walked away and said i'd get some advice, but if you want it he'd take the £600 winning bid!
-
Take it that one will be readvertised then due to timewaster ;D,but seriously i wouldent even consider paying him neither if it was a bag of shit or anyone else with any sense for that matter. :y
-
well he says:
I HAVE DONE HEAD GASKET, TIMMING BELT, CHANGED WATER PUMP, THERMOSTAT, ROCKER COVER GASKETS, PLUGS, LEADS, OIL, OIL FILTER, AIR FILTER, POLLEN FILTER, COOLANT FLUID, BRAKE PADS, BRAKE FLUIDS, CATALIC CONVERTER, MIDDLE SILENCER, ETC
So it should go fine, performance could be down to either timing out, or the multi-rams, did you see if there was good pressure to them? (just pop off the pipe and you should hear a release of air)
What display did it have? If its been changed for one not from same spec, engine, could need re-programming.
-
i wouldn't know where to start with multirams and pressure tunnie to be fair but it just didnt tally with the description of the large amounts of work claimed to have been done on it
it ran lumpy as hell, wouldnt kick down on the floored pedal but did on the cruise
the display, do you mean the one in the dash? it looked to be the correct one for an elite with a ccr2006
-
It was advertised as running "Absolutely spot on" - glad you took him up on his "Walk away" offer.
-
the number of times I have gone too look at an advertised "minter" only to find an absolute dog.People have some strange ideas on there vehicles condition
-
I might go and have a nosey its only down the road from me prob know the cowboy whos selling it
-
its a polish guy, private sale
-
Surely you have heard about the Polski-Fiat jokes! They are the next bad thing to the 'travelling' community cowboys.
Don't walk away though - RUN!
:y

Don't walk away though - RUN!
:y
Very quickly I would say, and don't look back! :y

its a polish guy, private sale
That figures our town is over run by them i`m sure the local shops are going to start taking the zloty soon .i`m going down that way today might give him a knock and annoy him was it advertised in the windows of the car aswell ?
-
at £600 what kind of car did you think you would get ,,,
you want quality you have to pay a bit more :y
-
I was fully aware it was a very cheap car dont get me wrong, but when it's advertised as spot on with just the cosmetics on the front needing work, thats what i wanted, i was prepared to pay another £200 to get the bodywork sorted/resprayed but that should have left me with a nice x reg 2.5 elite for £800, which is a good price but not a shocking bargain, so to have bought it and then had to strip the engine down and fix it without knowing exactly the cause of the rough running (not one of my strong points), wouldn't have been such an financially economical move
not to mention, swmbo told me not to buy it and was furious when she found out i almost had!! ::)
-
Hey Danny
Glad u didn't buy mine cos the misfiring/stuttering has got worse :'(!
Changed the plugs & ht leads but looks as though it might be the exhaust manifold gaskets :o!!
Thanks for your offer anyway & hope you managed to sell the Bora?
-
no worries! we still have her bora at the moment, so gonna wait til september or so when i have an extra year on the no claims, then shell out a little more and find one needing no work, and in turn, sell my bora aswell!
she's never happy, she bought a little runaround but now she wants a Lexus IS200!!

Just catching up. Could also simply be a case of the throttle and lickdown cables needing the slck adjusting up. Wouldnt make any differnce to it idling though, just on the performance/kicjdown etc.
