valve spring? road spring? ;)

suspension spring!for front and rear as mine failed mot today!boo! :-[

You don't need compressors for the rears, just drop the diff and they pull out and the new ones push back in.
-
ohh thats handy!i need to replace the front shock absober too do i need to remove spring too?
-
Unfortunately yes unless you're changing the whole leg.
The spring is wrapped around the shock absorber.
Don't forget that suspension parts should always be changed in pairs, a new spring on one side and an old one the other will not sit level and adversely affect the cars handling (at best) so you need to change both springs.
If you could find a pair of serviceable front suspension legs from a scrapper you could swap them without using spring compressors though.

Got a pair of front legs for £40 if you want them or if you want to borrow spring compressors I have an old but servicable pair you can borrow. I'm in Birmingham but I'm sure we can meet somewhere conveniant.....
