when left over night or all day at work on start up there is a cloud of blue smoke and then no more after that even thrashing thro gears there is no smoke.on tick over it is very slow to pick up on throttle,like a second or so.

Stem seals, I bet its a 2001ish model......there was a faulty batch

correct it is 2001 on a y plate i have only had it for 5 weeks and think it is a smashing car,but i know with 120,000 on clock it needs some tummie lovin care

You have two options
1) Rip the heads off and change the stem seals
2) Ignore it and just keep an eye on the oil level

I have the same car dude and mine was doing the same,i cleaned the breathers which were clogged up like a 60 aday smokers lungs and this cured the problem,worth a try first :y

just be carefull with the plastic part on top of the plenum,it can get brittle with age and heat :y

2001 model - definately stem seals IMO. Will not affect engine power but smoke is annoying!
