Title: does anyone want to take my project car off me?
Post by: tunnie on 31 December 2007, 16:45:32
Insurance is up soon, don't really want to re-new it, locks into a contract of sorts then.

It needs further work but its all legal.

Tax - 04/08
MOT 12/08

1999 Facelift 2.5 Elite LPG, unusual dark purple colour, LPG mixer system, will be fully working when sold.

Problems, blocked back box, noisey tappets, faded paint on wing mirror.

Other than that, its good to go.

I want to make room, for an Estate megga ...

Comeone someone take it off me, make me an offer!

I'd be tempted to have it cheap, if I had the space, but it doesn't look like I have.

My advise to you would be to

A) Get an oil pressure gauge, and see if the pressure is good
B) Based on that, possibly Pop the lower sump down and just check the strainer is clear
C) Remove the lifters and replace any duff ones.

Throw on a non-gen backbox, let me have a look at the LPG idle, and stick it on eBay ;)

It goes fine now a load of the back box wadding has been removed!  ;D

Tempted to fit your other LPG bagpipes, get it running on gas and just sell, cause it actually ran a lot quieter on gas  ::)

I just don't have time to fix, i want shot of it by 20th Jan

Bring those better LPG bits, when it did run on gas the noise was not nearly so noticable.

Really? I wonder if it's a noisy petrol injector then!   ::)

there is no reason a lifter would suddenly shut up on lpg but be noisy on petrol...

Well Jaime rekons its just me, but i sware blind, that first time i brought it back from Nottingham, it was on gas all the way down the M1, i got off, with the window down pulling away from Junctions it sounded sweet as a nut, went off 2 roundabouts (30 mph ish, no tappet noise)

Switched to petrol, gave it a spanking down the A43, got to brackley and the tappet noise was back.

Remember when you and me blew the crank sensor down the A43? and the gas system froze up? there was no tappets under acceleration then!

What you doing tommorow?  ;)  ;D

I am on call - if I don't get a call to go work, then I should be free...

If I came over though, I will have Swmbo and 2 dogs! Although - we could pack them off for a walk...

I know a good walk just 1/2 a mile up the road, we will have our Springer here too...

You could collect the bed too?

I would love to, but, Omega saloon, with three passengers and two dogs - I can't see it fitting in the car!!!

Well Jaime rekons its just me
The fuel will make no difference if its a noisy valve or lifter.  If I'm honest, doesn't sound like a noisy injector...

3 passsengers? swmbo and the dogs?

well with the ski hatch down and the one side of the rear bench down, you can get all the bits in.

Just the 2 big bits need to go on top. Can use the sofa bit to protect the roof.

I don't think it does either -

I rekon it's a follower.

Either way, there's no harm in getting it running right on gas. I have some much better inlet pipes for tunnie than the bodged ones on there :)

Unfortunately I have just been informed that Hannah doesn't like bunk beds, so it's looking unlikely I'll be able to take it off you, even though the offer is irrisistable. Really sorry :(

I'll tell you what. I'm in Cardiff at the Mo, but providing I don't get a call from work, I should be free tomorrow. It's a 250 mile round trip for me - but if you cover LPG, I'll come over and we'll have a good crack at getting it idling on gas. Incl fitting those better bagpipes, and openeing up the evaporator if needsbe..

Wicked. I won't use anymore than a tank - about thirty quid tops.

I'll drop you a text when we're leaving in the morn. Plan is to leave earlyISH but don't bank on that, as I want a beer tonight.... ;D

I've gotta pop into work for a bit now mate, but I'll see you tomorrow.
