Title: a NEW Problem, annoying heater noise!!
Post by: Wayne on 07 May 2010, 00:57:25
Hi everyone

well,  after getting my battery replaced, cars been running like a dream.... the heating works fine, plenty of hot and cold when required etc   :y

however....... now i have an annoying Whirry type noise when the heating is on, doesn't matter if its hot or cold, you can hear something whirring, cant describe the sound, but its bloody annoying!!
also got a slight high pitch whine chucked in with the whirryness! GRRRRRRRRRRRRRR  >:( >:( >:(
soon as you turn the heater off, it stops! ::)
if you press the ECO button when heatings on, the noise disappears, and also when you turn the heating off completely.... (obviously)
any ideas what it could be?
its only started happening within the last 2 weeks

Sounds like the air conditioning compressor or cooling fans to me. Can you locate the source of the sound under the bonnet?

Could be the sampling fan behind the console.

I think that would still run in ECO mode, though? :-/

Need to work out if the sound is coming from under the bonnet or the car interior.
