In getting to the bottom of my overheating problem (see separate post), I have the cambelt cover off.
The belt has only done 15k and still has more than a year left before the 4 years interval is up.
I gave it a good inspection (and also protected it from water when I took the water pump out). The only thing that looked slightly less that 100% was the presence of what I'd describe as a white dandruff like material evenly coating the "01" casting.
There isn't much of it - just a very light coating.
So, comments welcome, should I go the full Monty and change the belt kit complete, or just set it up using the DVD instructions?
Thanks guys

sorry, 01 casting?

If you were just changing the water pump, why remove the belt?
Anyway, if it was me I'd replace the kit now as you have it stripped down... You'll have to do it again in a year anyway so may a\s well get it out of the way ;) ;) :y

Its the casting on which the idler pulley sits& is part of the replacement kit.

I haven't removed the belt - but am inclined to I must say. The thought of all that stripping down again in a years time is a bit off putting.

I would say it should be a good idea to do the belt , always good for me to have that piece of mind . Belt is cheaper than another motor or the money to repair it :y
This is what I found after we did my timming belt , so glad it did not break :o

If you haven't removed it then you could just put everything back together. But I'd change the kit now as it's apart ;)

Yes, I've decided to do that now.
I've got a locking kit (never used it yet though), and there is some difference between the 1/2 marks and 3/4 marks - so it needs adjusting at a minimum for sure.
Its taken me hours to get this far - so hang the expense change the whole thing!
Must watch the video again now .......... ;)
