Title: Can the SAI be removed?
Post by: I_want_an_Omega on 10 May 2010, 17:59:31
I now that in many cars is don't actually work, but as I'm doing my cambelt (when my 30mm offset ring spanner arrives in the post), it seemed to me that it could be removed fairly easily.

With the pipe/vave out of place cut about 2 or 3" of the metal pipe off and put a compression end stop on the short pipe which goes into the rubber mount?

That means the pipework and pump could be removed saving a fair bit of weight.

Any comments?

I was going to use a short length of copper pipe with a soldered end cap on looks to be about 15mm in diameter and there can't be any heat as the joint is made of rubber......

If Mark has done it I'll investigate further  :y
