Title: Exhaust Rattle

Ever since I fitted replacement flexi cat section back onto father tuns 2.2, its had a rattle from cold, it goes away with just a feather on the throttle, and its fine once warm. I've checked and i can't see it touching heat shields, if i just poke one of the centre sections with an extension bar it goes as well  :-/

Comparing it with my 2.2, the exhaust bolts go from the passenger side to drivers, with nuts being on that side. I had it other way around on father T's so tried this afternoon switching it around, but got a problem.

These are the bolts i got from the Vx Dealer:

But as you can see the thread ends 90% way up, bolting it on, does not give enough thread other side for the nut  :-/

If i go the other way, because of the exhaust pipe, the bolts cannot sit right.

Think i need longer M8's?

Shouldn't those bolts go in from the other side and into the threads on the pipe you have them screwed through without the need for nuts on the end? That's how the downpipe to exhaust setup is on the v6.

Yep.. I would have thought so

Thats how i had it setup before  :-/

For some reason my 2.2 it goes the other way  :-/

Someone has snapped the bolts in the past and drilled the threaded holes out and replaced with a nut and bolt.
Both cats on mine are the same, makes life easier if you have to split the joint in the future.

I'll put some fresh exhaust putty on and reseal it doing it that way then  :y

Now now LD that would be cruel to the poor lad and besides TB often looses PMs so maybe a text would work better. ;)

Its all back together now and runs fine  8-)

Its exactly how it was before  :-/ - But guess it was not sat right last time.
