Title: Engine cutting out
Post by: NF on 18 April 2010, 20:26:30
Started car tonight and drove 7 miles, engine cut out, would not restart, plenty of battery, had this problem on several occasions, if I just wait for about 10 minutes it starts again OK and runs normally, any help would be appreciated.

Do the paper clip trick to flash out any engine fault codes. I suspect you will find a code 19 stored which means poor quality signal from the crank sensor.
New crank sensor should fix it.
Recent comments suggest Vx only for the crank sensor due to crap versions being sold via e-bay.

Thanks Matchless
Spot on diagnosis, changed the crank sensor on Friday evening and drove to East London and back on saturday, engine didn't miss a beat.
Thank you very much.
