Hi
Just went out to the car and tried to start it and nothing. No lights or anything. Tried using jump leads but nothing.
Any ideas where to start looking!
Cheers

start at the battery and check positive lead down to starter is intact and earth lead to body and engine is making good contact and battery terminals themseves are clean
-
Thanks, they seem nice and attached and well greeced.
-
if you have a volt meter handy check battery voltage,it should be around 12.7 volts with everything switched off
-
HAve you checked the big fuses beside the battery
-
NO lights do you mean headlights or just dash lights
-
I have nothing no dash lights, no clicks nothing!!
:(
-
does your key turn back by itself from the thrid possition
-
yes! could it be an immobiliser problem?
-
If it was a immobiser problem the lights would come on and the eml would flash while turning the key,i was thinking more along the lines of ingition switch/inginition barrel.
-
Its strange as it worked fine this morning! I'll have another look tomorrow?
Thanks for the advice so far
:)
-
THe ingition barrel as a habit of snapping,I would take the switch off to see if there a little bit the ingition barrel stuck in there,if not try to see if ,the switch is working. assuming youve checked all fuses.hth :y

When you turn the key to the start position do you feel the key being returned to position 2 ie do you feel the key spring back.
-
to clarify. do the hazards work? battery tested and good?
-
As stated above, does the key make the positive clicks arount position 1 and 2 and spring back from 3?
Souns to me like that end of the barrel has snapped off and you're not actually turning the switch ;)
To add... If you turn the headlights on do they work as normal or not?

Just wanted to thank everyone for their input, got the car started again today. Not sure what was wrong but turned the key today and she lived.... Strange!
