[smiley=2vrolijk_08.gif]I'm made up. As you know, gave my mate the Carlton to replace his knackered Escort. My gaffer asked the other day about the Escort. I told him the truth & i could get it if he wanted. He offered me his 1981 Merc 200. 2 owners 81,000mls, bubbling on rear arches & 2 door bottoms (no probs there already got paint code) all colour coded hub caps, first aid kit warning triangle, never had a radio fitted, spent all afternoon doing interior & it's hardly any cleaner. No rips, tears, wear, anything. Smells like new. I'll shut up for now but will post some piccies soon. I used this car for a few weeks 2 years ago & could'nt get in or out without old boys coming for a look, it's a baby.
Did i mention i was made up?!!!!!!! :y :y :y

I had one of those back in 2000, broke my ankle so was desperite for a Auto for a while, paid £250 for it.
Frightened the life out me on the Motorway, it responded like Speed Boat.
Stangest thing ever, about 3 weeks after I got it, was filling it up at a Garage and some stranger came up to me and said "I'll give you a Grand for that now !!!", there was a bit more conversation after that, but the outcome was I was Hobble’ling to the nearest Pub on my Crutches.
Zirk.

:)Golfbudgie:- No worries, step in anytime mate!
Omegaman2:- No 200 petrol.
Paulus:- £750/£800 is about right. They're borderline classics & not tax exempt (would be soon under the 25yr.old rules but we had that taken away from us by the grabbing sh**houses we call our government) still no ranting today!!! I hope this one makes nearer £1000, will show daylight pics when done, it really is a baby but we never ask top book, rather it went to a caring owner for a little less.
LSG1:- Cheers. The overused phrase "timewarp classic" really applies to this one.
Zirk:- Funny story mate. This one is'nt at all quick, it drives like a 70's car 'cos as far as it's design goes it is. Feels odd first time out but you settle in quick enough, then enjoy the charm & character.
Markey Mark:- Much as i'd love this one as a keeper i'll be "turning her round". Bumpers/lights off, mask up & spray bottom or car, re-trim machine polish, hand buff the swirls out, centre exhaust section & in for MOT. Proceeds to my MK3 Cortina fund!!!!!!!!!!!! [smiley=2vrolijk_08.gif]
