Hi all
I got the brake warning on a car I just got and can hear the front brakes are grinding. I don't think the discs are damaged yet as the car is off the road, but may err on the side of caution and get discs/pads. Its definitely just the front brakes anyhow.
So, what brakes would people recommend that's gonna be sufficient for 3.0v6/Auto/Saloon/Elite/1997/R but won't hurt my wallet too much?
Cheers guys
John

GM on tradeclub, good price v performance
Omega Part Number Retail Price Normal Trade Trade Club
Brake disc & pad kits, front (axle set)
All models exc. 2.0 to '97 93175466 £109.00 £89.98 £80.15
and you wont end up doing it again in 3000 miles due to warped disks :y
Omega are a big heavy car, cheap disks just dont cut it, save money in the long run and put the right ones on.

Totally agree with Jimbob here.
I have had some totally naff disks and pads over the years and learnt that cutting costs on brake parts is not the way to go. Gowever saying that, the only one I have been happy with (Aftermarket) are the Apec ones, I have them on my GLS and where fitted before I joined the forum, had confidence in them from the day they were fitted, sadly they might be rusted now as when I bought the Elite the GLS took a bit of a side line and then gor sorned.
If I manage it, the Elite is getting New Vx Disks and pads fitted this afternoon :), if not will be later this week. (Corrosion on inside advisory on last test - lots of time parked up - last time out the surface rust took the OSF pad metal to metal) :-/

top performance are ATE from Euro Car Parts. They were the make fitted originally.
probably cheaper, too.

Cool ta - to be honest I need to get the car on the road as cheaply as possible, to see if there's any major faults I don't know about. If the car lasts 3000 miles I've no worries replacing the brakes with good ones ;D
Crank sensor and front brakes will get her roadworthy, then tax and insurance, then I can make my mind up.
I only see Eicher and Pagid on Euro Car Parts, but both are pretty cheap?

no - avoid these brands.
Ring Euro Car Parts and talk to them directly, they have the stuff !

Great, I've inspected the discs now it only needs pads thank gawd! I did see them eventually, they just weren't showing up on the Omega 3.0 List.
Cheers for that ;-)
