Title: What torque wrench?
Post by: The Cambelt Kid on 01 January 2008, 19:12:44
Hi Guys,

I've managed to scrape by for so long without one of these, but i think the time has now come to invest!  I've spotted one on fleabay and wondered what you chaps thought?

This one has a low torque range as to cover the 8nm for the cam covers, so i'm thinking this is a good one to start with...

Cheers and happy new year. :)

It's difficult to get by with just one. You need at least a couple.

i though so, i just want to buy one for now as don't need a heavy duty one as yet, although i do plan do drop the gearbox/clutch later in year to resolve my fragging clutch so maybe i'd need a heavy duty one then...

What's sealy make like?  are they trustworthy?

Cheers
Marc

Some poniters:

4NM - brake discd securing bolt (but Torque Wrench not really mandatory here)

8NM - cam covers and throttle body etc, so you will need this value as minimum.

110NM - road wheel bolts. This would be your normal upper value.

320NM - front bearings.... only needed if you intend to do those though.

I covered the range from 8Nm to 320NM using four torque wrenches.

HTH.

When I was a lad I had a Triumph herald. I had a hammer, two screwdrivers (flat +phillips) and a set of open-enders. Never needed anything else. :y

Bet you could go out, get bladdered, fish supper, your tram fare home and still have change out of ten bob too.

You could sit on the front wheel while fixing the engine too. :y

Although normally, you were probably busy elsewhere with the Isopon!

Apart from the tram home, you're pretty much spot on :y
