Title: Engine Knock ???

I have a metallic knocking sound coming from the exhaust manifold side of engine when I start up, decreases as rev,s increase, and when engine warm, but never goes away completely.
Help please!!

is it a knock or more of a tapping sound?

More like a tapping sound, noisy on start-up

exhaust manifold gasket mine is the same . nasty job i have been told hoping to find someone local to me ( BIG HINT  ;) ) that knows how to do them in exchange for some folding stuff  sorry just reread your profile you have a 4 pot so maybe not as hard a job on yours

could just be a sticky hydraulic tappet,oil and filter change may cure it

Do they have heat sheilds on them any where? is it loose if there is one?  it could be the cause of a metalicy rattle.
