Title: A few niggling problems ....
Post by: Proz on 13 May 2010, 19:54:19
The joys of Omega ownership are starting to show  :-/

1. I have a creaking sound coming from the rear passenger side on bumps/speed bumps ... cant be springs cause they were done not long ago and just passed mot so is it shock absorber or doughnut bush .. ? ... shocky doest look like its leaking and car seems to handle ok .
2. Trivial but rather annoying rattle coming from passenger door near the lock button area .. goes away when door is locked , i hate squeeks and rattles in a car .
3. Gear lever rattle which i belive is pretty standard but is there a cure ?
4. Indicator/cruise stalk wont stay up when turning right .. cancels itself or comes of before even turning or moving steering wheel ... suppose a new one would cure that .
5. Aircon doesnt work ... hopefully just needs gassing .

Thats all i can think of just now  ;D ;D ;D
The £ signs are rolling now .... :-/

Any advice or tips greatly recieved  :y

1, subframe bush can cause creaking

2, door card off and add some foam / tape?

3, dunno

4, yup, new stalk time (check yours is fully seated and clicked into place as well though)

5, aircon specialist will tell you  :y

1) get some PTFE spray and spray each flexible point on the rear end in turn I.E. spray donut bush then take for a drive, if the squeek is still there, move on. If it's gone you've found the cause ;)

2) It's normally caused by the locating strip on the door card seperating at the glued point. Use some 1/4" self tappers and screw the strip back a touch tighter than the original glue line.

3) Cheap fix is spray grease ;D Good and thick on the pivot under the leather gater ;D

4) New one I'm afraid.

5) Hopefully :y

To stop the front door pins rattling......

Prise open the red/orange cap with a thin blade (it does come out, but not all the way I think) and this frees up the plastic pin. Wrap some thin tape around where it fits once maybe twice around. Job done, no more rattling.

There was a post on this with pics, but I can't find it.

You'll see how it's done once you get that cap out :y

simples!

Mick ;)
