When you go into Vauxhall you should be asked for your Reg Number and they will give you the right set :y

Eh??? Won't there be different calipers on each brake in that case?
Should only ever change discs in pairs, never heard of anyone doing this before!

Check the calipers are the same, and buy the discs suitable for the calipers!!

Sounds like a Morris special! A friend (from the Morris Minor club) used to be a fitter on the production line for Morris Vans (Marina) at Adderley Park in Birmingham and he knows of at least 3 vans that left the line with a drum on one front wheel and a disc on the other! :o

I'd love to own a car like that, because I'd put it in to the nearest lamp post/brick wall and then retire on the strength of the compo that would be forthcoming.

Is the gap between the disc & caliper equal on either side of your solid disc side? When Mick Dundee had solid instead of vented discs at the back of his car, the gaps were not equal (unsurprisingly ::)) so as the pads wore, the piston on one side started to come out of its bore, obviously resulting in a leak.
As your car is a 2.6 I would suspect that you should have vented discs at the back (on oth sides  ;))

seen talk of this before, the danger with fitting thinner solid discs instead of the wider vented disc is that the pistons pop out as the pads wear down, as said, needs the correct discs for the calipers fitted, which i would guess should be vented given the age...?

I concur, I would imagine some pillock has replaced a single disc like an idiot, then even managed to get that 50:50 chance wrong  >:(

Sounds like some one may have spun the car in the past and damagaed a wheel, in turn damaging the disk.

Check both sides to see if the calipers are the same.

Would also be interested to know how many MOT stations have passed it in that condition.

These are Vaxhall's discs prices ......

Omega Part Number Retail Price Normal Trade Trade Club
Brake discs/drums, rear
Solid discs/drums to '00                               90444513 £94.00 £79.96 £65.81
Ventilated discs/drums from '01                              93182287 £94.00 £80.15 £68.05

so quite where Vauxhall have quoted the best part of £600 from I can't imagine. You obvioulsy need a vented caliper though which I doubt will be particularly cheap if you buy it new. I'd be looking for a second hand one though.
