Title: Auto Gearbox Service
Post by: coop1952 on 28 May 2010, 10:21:57
My service book says that my 2002 V6 omega should have the auto box serviced every 4 years - is this right. I've never had mine done and I've had it 6 years. What does a service entail or is it just to check to make sure there is enough fluid? I'm a bit nervous about auto boxes as my last 1994 omega's box broke and couldn't engage top gear which meant a top speed of 60mph. Not worth repairing so sold it on!

Won't do it any harm to drop both sumps, clean off the magnet, pop them back on, and fill with fresh ATF :y

10 years, 140k miles and never serviced mines still working well. Now I've said that you can guarantee it will self destruct on the way home tonight !

I left the MV6 to 147k.  Wasn't in too bad a condition, but was smoother afterwards :y
