Done my crank sensor this morning. and wanted to do alternator bearings.
Have given up. :-[
I can get the bottom bolt out, but how the ferk do you get at the top bolt. I could turn the nut at the front but can't see how to get at the torx head to stop it turning? and even if I get that far I can't see how I would get the top bolt back in?

As I recall, it's easier if you take out the aux belt tensioner. I can't say for sure though, never done it with the engine IN car ::)
Do you have the upper bolt in from the rear? Hmm.. Might get in conflict with the motor mount then.

Multiram setup out.
Aux belt off.
Disconnect battery
Remove the two securing bolts (one end is torx, the other end hex)
swing the alternator out and disconnect the two rear electrical connections.

Exactly how I did mine...

I had bottom bolt loose ready to remove. Belt off and tensioner pully off to access top bolt but the torx bolt head is at the back and nut at the front. turning nut just rotated whole bolt.
I cant see how to get it off once I have swung alternator out from the bottom?

Well, you need to hold the other end. There's no threads in the alternator or the mount, just nut and bolt. It might be tight, but absolutely doable.

I changed mine a few weeks ago and yes the top bolt is a swine to get at, I didn't remove the aux belt tensioner as I couldn't see it would help at all. The only advice I can give is to be patient and try to get the torx socket on the bolt first and then fit your ratchet onto that, it has to be all done by feel really, the bolt didn't prove that difficult to remove or replace although at first I panicked into wondering how I would get the bolt back in! All in all it was a bit of a pig but nowhere near as bad as I first thought it would be and I did it in about 2 hrs, patience and persistence is the key! Good luck :)

I also did it without moving the belt, a real fiddly job with fingers feeling the way, but it can be done.

Top bolt is a pig to get to but can be done, 3/8 drive rachet and torx socket and a spanner or rachet on the nut at the front, place the torx on the 3/8 rachet and offer into the gap between the alternator and bracket, then turn the nut at the front till you can feel the torx head through the rachet, then when your torx socket is on the head undo the nut and push the bolt out through the bracket. It took me 2 hours to remove the alternator but only 20mins to replace once i knew how to approch the bolt for refitting :o.

about a 40 - 45 minute job...not to hard just get a spanner on the rear torx nut....either a torx one or a bi hex that fits
