Title: cylinder head torque settings
Post by: Ken T on 25 May 2010, 14:16:03
Does any one know the torque settings for the cylinder head and cam bearings on the 2.2 ?

My car has been running a bit under par for some time, and its been steadily getting worse, power seems down, and now missing at tickover and loosing 4 pints of water in 60miles  :'(

I couldn't get her to run properly on LPG, I kept getting missfiring on pot 1 at around 40-50mph, but thought it was just not enough gas getting in. However its now using a lot of water, I can't see any other leaks, and the missing at tickover suggests its a bit serious.

I'm going to do the head gasket tonight/tomorrow. Hopefully the head hasn't warped. Is there any else I should check while the head's off ?.

Should think it'll be the same as the 2.0 4 pot which are:-

Head bolts in 4 stages:-
1) 25nm
2) 90º
3) 90º
4) 15º

Cam bearing bolts 8nm
Cam Cover bolts 8nm

Haynes says:

25NM-90'-90'-90'-15'

Which is the true 4 or 5 stages??

Anybody?
TIS also mentions 25NM+90+90+90+15 but I've bought ERLING head gaskets but it mentions 90' only 2 times.
So which method should I use?
