Title: Newbie rattle question
Post by: johny5 on 09 June 2010, 09:20:36
Hi All,

This is my first post! :)

I have a W reg omega estate and have noticed a metal type rattle going over bumps at the front, is there anything i should or can check myself or common problems on these?

Thanks for reading.

If it`s only happening going over bumps, as Henry says, probably droplinks. Easy to do, small bar, balljoint either end secured by one nut. Black bar left of centre in this pic

About £20 a pair. You could remove them, test car over short distance, then refit/replace as necessary.

Are you sure it`s at the front. Check all exhaust heatshields underneath as well.

Yes its definately the front rob, sounds more heavier than a heatshield if that makes sense?

Ok so if i remove 1 and take it on a short journey, will this be ok? i will know if it is the droplink because going down my road it is really loud due to the road surface. Will it b safe to drive without one?
