Not so bothered by that.
The fact it uses the BUzz buzzers and Logitec steering wheel does help

Just go out, buy yourself Oblivion (Game of the year edition) and kiss your life goodbye! ;)
Having the PS3 and the 360 I can say I prefer the PS3.
It is a LOT quieter!
The controller is just more intuitive than the 360.
It has wireless internet access built in (no £60 [smiley=shocked.gif] extra required!)
So far no issues with playing PS2 games (I have the 60gb version with the emulator) and they look good with the upscaling.
User menu is straightforward.
Plays BR discs and makes normal dvds look very very good on my tv. :)
Ok, the 360 has a much better online commuinty setup and a far wider range of games, but I just think the PS3 is the better choice...

Point 1) You oviously don't have your surround sound speakers loud enough, playing COD4, which the sound up, you cannot hear the x-box! Although i would admit its noisey
Point 2) Have to disagree, i find the 360 controllers much easier to aim with and more naturual, i love the trigger positions. But this is personal choice....
Point 3) This is the whole point of a console for me, i completed COD4 single player in under 2 days. I only play it online now, and its what keeps me interested, so decent online play is critical!
When i got my 360, PS3 was considerably more expensive, at the time, 360 was better for the money. Now its very difficult cause the PS3 is a lot lower....
Of course the 360 would always win for me.... cause of Halo 3 ;) ;D
-
What's 'ps3'? :o

What's 'ps3'? :o
Sony Playstation 3, Sony's 3rd console... well actually the first sony PS1 was actually made by Nintendo, but they did not think it would catch on, so sold the design to sony! :o

We have the 40 and it is quiet
Controller is good but currently using the Logitec steering wheel as we have Sega Rally
Using WiFi already
Need the PS2 for PS2 games :( (no affordable 60s around)
DVDs are green - will be hassling Sony for a fix preferably a W3000 fix.
Running RGB into my DVE setup CRT currently.
Got Blade Runner on order
Saving now for a new TV

Halo 3 is a strong argument... but so will be GT5 to many people (me included, especially if the Top Gear track is included as rumour has it) ;)
The online comunity for the PS3 will grow, but if online gaming is your thing, then the 360 would be a better call at this time.
Me, I prefer single player games (mainly because I am not very good!)so that side is not a big deal for me
In the graphics dept, there is little between them at this time.
Many of the PS3 games are ports from the 360.
I know little on the subject but I gether it is much more labour intensive to write for the PS3.
We won't see the best out of either for a good couple of years I suspect.
You want to try Bioshock by the way... :)
-
gears of war and call of duty are awesome on 360 ;D
-
I agree with all of the above ;D We have a PS3 connected to a 40" Samsung HD television and the sound comes through a Sony 5.1 amp and Call of Duty 4 or indeed any army type game sounds fantastic through the speakers.
Recently we have bought Drakes Fortune which is a lot like Tomb Raider but with less puzzles and more shooting.
I can't wait until " Home " is released .
My son is wating for "Haze" and "Arm of Two" And my hubby is waiting for Resident Evil 5 to be released. ;D
We also have a 360 upstairs connected to my sons HD tele and he has been online since Sept 07 and he loves it.We paid £40 for a year but I do think that at the moment the Xbox Live community is better than the PS3 online lets see what happens when "Home" is released ;D
I don't think anyone can say one is better than the other both consoles are great and I just think it's a personal choice thing at the end of the day. ;D

markey > COD3/4.... COD 4 is brilliant!

You want the Sony W3000... believe me you do! ;D
As for games, well it depends what you like?
Call of Duty 4 is a great shooter.
Orange Box is rated as an essential purchase (mmm Half Life goodness!).
Oblivion is doing a good job of redefining adventure gaming (looks stunning and plays like a dream).
Bioshock is.... disturbing!
Oh and as for Resident Evil 5.... I can't wait!

Errrr...I've got an Atari.

Planning on getting a 360 with 2 wireless controllers and a memory card (no HD) soon. Fave game so far is Halo2. Which games should I get?
-Thinking Halo 3 and Bioshock.
-Would consider COD4 and Gears of War.
Is there anything that can be done about the fan noise? That kind of stuff really annoys me. Can't play loud where I live. Maybe just use my Bose QC2's? Not interested in PS3, would get Wii if decent games.
-
Be careful on what 360 you get. The HDD is a very useful addition and I would not recommend getting a core system.
Games. Well Halo3 and Bioshock will certainly keep you occupied. :)
It all depends on what you like.
Forza is an excellent driving game, Orange Box is pretty much recommended by everyone as is Oblivion if you like adventure gaming.
As for the fan noise? Well short of opening it up (and invalidating the warranty) and changing the noisy (cheap) fan installed for a proper quiet running one.... not a lot can be done.

I understand that you can add the HD anytime, and that the card will save data for at least a dozen games so I don't see why to pay extra now. I still have the old Xbox, and don't play online. Unless there's something that I'm missing?
I'll look up Orange Box, not familiar with that. Most driving games just annoy me without a wheel and pedals.

Even those with the emulator struggle to play most PS2 games properly.

To use the xbox emulator (plays many, but not all xbox games) required HDD.

Thanks. It's not like I'd get enough for the old Xbox on eBay to cover the extra for a 360 Premium, so no point. :P
The Wii sounds like the ideal system, if it had better games like Halo, Bioshock, etc.
-
The Wiiii still gets used - but quite a few games for it are rubbish.
Try Super Mario Galaxy - writers were on drugs I think!!!!
For young children I have to say the best bet is still the PS2
Anyway how many consoles play any version of GT?

THe Gamecube with flashy controllers
Do not buy any non Nintendo games for it, it is not very powerful - if you want Halo ir anything similar you will need a 360, PS3 or PC

The Wii is a fairly low spec machine, but with some fantastic games that people want. Most normal adults who can tolerate sunlight really dont give a toss about lifelike graphics and physics engines, but just want a quick blast on a simple game with some mates when they get back from the pub

Not worried about the resolution, just want that style of game instead of tennis.

I still have fond memories of the original DOOM - gameplay/atmosphere over graphics. Runs really well on modern hardware as well ;). May even run on a Mac under emulation?
-
Can i do all these games on my hand held space invaders console game cica 1980 ;D

DOn't bother with the Wii then - not that sort of console - if money is a problem look at PS2 or XBox, not try PS3 or 360, or a PC.
I run Doom 3 on my PC
Wii is a fun console rather than a gamers console
-
Doom 3. What a disappointment.

I have an Xbox, but only like Halo2. Can't find anything else. Willing to spring for a 360, don't want a gaming PC.
TB, the Mac Mini has weak video so can't run even half-decent older games.

Looks like 360 time then

I just ordered Time crisis 4 with the new guncon for PS3
I play it with the kids in the arcades and is supposed to be better on ps3 (hd graphics).Had to buy US import though cus not released in uk till march.
Asassins Creed is pretty good on ps3 too.
COD 4 is top game on both consoles
Wii is a good laugh at partys, but soon tire of it playing on ya own

Why would anyone over the age of 15 want to sit and play games all day? OK, I accept some people can't deal with sunlight, but not many...

It's a laptop in a box. Fine for what it is, but a powerful desktop it's not.

Because playing games for an hour or so is fun, I can't sit and do it all day but the odd game is fun. Perhaps 6 or so laps of the Nurburgring
For family fun the Buzz games are great

It works perfectly as a dvd player (mine is) and with the latest firmware (version 2.10 downloaded simply over wireless) it makes normal dvds look beautiful (very impressive upscaling to 1080p compared to tv doing it).
The Wii is great fun to play with. I mean to borrow a friends and try Resident Evil 4 on it....

I thought it odd that they couldn't get it to play DVDs, but there were about 4 of them who got them for the kids, and none could play. No idea if they had latest firmware....
-
They are doing something wrong if they can't play dvd's on it :-?
Even in standard form it works perfectly as a dvd player (well mine does and so does a friends, he has the 40gb version). The firmware updates adds extra features like the improved upscaling and other bits.
Tell them to download the firmware directly, or if that is beyond them they can download to a pc and burn to a cd and just put it in.

I'm not helping them. If they insist on buying Sony Shite, that is entirely their problem, not mine ;)

Graphics on 360 are a little bit better suprisingly, 360's are now just as quiet as a PS3 with the 65 NM chips I must say that i prefer the 360 but you get so much more for your money with a PS3.

New 360s also have larger heatsinks which should fix the reliability issues.
