Title: blower fans not working with aircon

Now this is an odd one.

My battery is dying - well almost dead, so much so it knocked the radio into safe mode.  I managed to bump start but driving home I got some odd behaviour from the aircon:  it is best described as follows (this is a pre facelift non-climate system)

blower set to 3 ( or any other number really) and as soon as i press the aircon button the blowers stop, I can hear the aircon compressor kick in and the Radiator fans kick in as well but I just cannot get the blower fan running with aircon.

I'm hoping a new battery will fix everything but any ideas would be appreciated

probably not enough voltage left in battery is your alternator ok

It could be voltage but it is odd. Fan works fine without aircon just not with aircon.

Alternator is fine.
