Title: Unidentified Part
Post by: star_whites on 15 June 2010, 12:38:55
Hopefully someone can help me here. I am trying to identify what a part is that appears to be leaking.

The part I am looking at is mounted to the fan cowling on the right hand side of the radiator. It has a roughly 1" water hose coming in/out of it and it has lots of red crystalization on the base of the unit.

What is this part and what does it actually do.

Vehicle is a 3.0 1999 Auto MV6

Sounds like it could be the electric water pump. Does it have an electrical connection too?

It returns some of the rad water from the outlet back to the inlet to improve cooling.

I have a spare in the garage I think you can have for nowt

According to the Haynes book of semi-truths, it's an auxiliary coolant pump for the air-con system.
