Try this link, should be the complete fitting instruction, as a PDF file, you can print it off, and compare what you have with the parts list.

Hope this helps, :y

Can't tell anything from those pics, but guessing I'd say it should have a plate on the boot floor to replace all that angle iron. :-/

sure it should have a long square bar, with two plates on the ends to fit under the boot, if i fitted it as it looks it would just rip of pulling the caravan etc, that looks a lot like a ford tow bar, what make is it should have a vin plate or stamp on it.

There are a few different types of towbar, but from what I can see from the picture which could do with being a bit bigger for me to see properly  ;D it looks like there is a big plate that should go inside the boot on the floor is missing.

The big part you have with the towball on, it has 4 hole drilled into it... you will need to open your boot, pull up the carpet. You will see 4 nipples in the floor and three under the plastic rear panel which you will need to remove. They all need drilling to the size of the bolts you have (10mm iirc)
I usually fit the rear bolts first (under the rear plastic panel) to make sure the towbar body is right back in the right place before drilling 10mm holes through the floor as they sometimes dont line up and you end up with elongigated holes (hope this makes sense)
There are 2 holes further up the boot nearer to the back seats which will got through the chassis, they also need drilling.
Whilst you have the Big Plate in place draw around it and remove the sound proofing from the floor :y
I would remove the towbar body getting all the swarf ( the twisty bits of steel after drilling) off, put the big plate (that it looks like your missing) in place then bolt everything up :y

Hope that helps, I am writing this from memory so bare with me :)

This is a good point  :y but it does look like a saloon towbar from what I can see, as the estates I have seen so I could be wrong, have a box section with a plate each end that bolts width ways to the brackets that are bolted through the floor each side of the sparewheel well :y

plate in the boot floor is the design i have, Rustym is talking ebout the other design, with square bar under the fuel tank which does not seem relevant here.

Don't know if its the same bar or not but try these.

Between the tank and bumper

Between the diff and tank

I agree that looks incomplete. There must be something to spread the loads forward to the crossmember behind the diff. Either a plate that fits internally on the boot floor or a square section tube that runs forward under the fuel tank. :-/

You should also have long bolts to go through the crossmember and, importantly, spacers to fit inside it so it is not crushed as you torque the bolts up.

I can't see the long bolts or the bushes / spacers (BU) used to mount the straps to the boot floor either. Makes me wonder if the original bar was fitted by a cowboy who left them out. :-/
