I have just got a second hand pair of headlights of a 97 cdx saloon to fit onto my n reg 96 tourer estate,as i want to change from the ribbed type to clear lens and for the life of me i cant see a way that they will fit ,i dont mean the shape ,its the wiring its totally different.is it me, are there any pictures on the forum that can help .the new lights have ballast thingies on them and there isnt a connection on the tourers old headlights that fits .Hope this makes sense.

Hi
Your new lights are the HID type. Be extremely careful fiddling with these as they employ very high voltages, as in fatal voltages. I have done this job myself and do not remember any particular difficulties although it was some time ago and I cannot remember precisely how it was done. You need to compare the wiring diagrams for each type of light and go from there.
You might be better off selling the HID's and buying halogen lights from a pre-facelift which will be a straight forward plugin.

A lot of people get rid of the halogen light units and upgrade them with xenon (HID) lights, they are MUCH better but be aware decent bulbs cost around forty squid each.
To fit the xenon lights to your car I would imagine you would need the headlight plugs that are still on the CDX loom. On the Vectra 'b' it's just a case of joining up the wires, the colours are the same. If the wiring colours don't match up then, as said, you will need to check the wiring diagrams.
