Title: Coin/smallglove box
Post by: MV6Matt on 02 July 2010, 16:37:16
...............(to the right of the steering wheel) keeps opening.
The old one used to do this so I got another one of ebay and it's been fine .....until now.
Any quick fixes/useful ways round it/superior DIY methods of stopping it just dropping open that people have successfully utilised?

Let me know your ideas!
Cheers folks
Matthew

Guessing the small catches have worn a bit, could try using a fridge magnet, one of the thin flexable ones, cut 2 strips off and glue them to the edge, one on the flap other to the dash. Not sure how close theses surfaces get to each other but may be worth an experement or 3.

think some have used velcro tape...

not ideal for frequent use, but holds it shut.

Yes velco, my old one had a broken catch and previous owner had used some velco.  Not foolproof, and would fall open in time  - got worse and time went by, so I got a replacement (but never fitted it before it went).

Thin cable tie ends forming a wedge on the rhs also helped before the velco reworked.

If you open it you'll see 2 small lugs at the top... Bend them down gently a little... Job done :y :y

Did mine for the first time about 16 months ago and did it again about 6 months ago :y :y

Ah hah! This is my kind of solution! ;D :y
I'll start here and work towards the velcro/magnets.
The superglue I'll save as a last resort ;D :D

Thanks again folks!
