Title: Air Con Filter Replacement
Post by: Ross Fletcher on 29 May 2010, 13:56:35
Hi. Sorry for the very non-technical question, but I'm no mechanic. Is the air con filter easily replaceable on a 2003 Elite 3.2 please? Had a Lexus LS400 in the past and you simply removed it from the rear of the glove box and put a new one in. I'm hoping it's equally simple on the Omega. Many thanks.

Lift the bonnet up and standing from the front looking back it is located (under the flap described by Tunnie) in the far right hand corner of the engine bay.

easy to change. The filter has an arrow on the side showing "the right way".

Yours being the Facelift will need to be the black one. Usually called the Pollen filter. Sorry I don't have the part number.

Hi again. Many thanks for the replies. I've removed the pollen filter (it's not black, incidentally, white edges and light grey in the middle) and started off by vacuuming all the rubbish out of it. This hasn't made a great deal of difference. Do you think a new one is the best thing to try before asking the Dealer to look at the problem, i.e. are there any other common problems that would make the air con definitely colder than non-air con air, but definitely not as cold as it should be? I'm thinking that risking a few quid on a new filter before involving the Dealership is probably worthwhile. Thanks again. Ross.

all that a new filter will do is help the airflow into the cabin,if your system is not cold enough it probably just needs a re-gass

Part No. 093182438  £6.22 ex vat with TC, £8.65 without.

But as previously stated a re-gas is probably due as the system losses 10% of its efficiency every year, so if you do not know when it was last done............. ;) ;)

Go to a good local AC specialist, many of which will come to you.  A vacuum, relub, check over and regass costs anything between £50 and £70 usually. ;)

That's for the old filter F/L uses the dearer charcoal version 93165208 and without it will switch the system to recirculate as it detects pollutants not being filtered out by the charcoal filter.

When did a different filter come in for the F/L's then please?  Ross has stated his existing filter is NOT the black version, but is like mine white, but once used, grey :D :D :D ;)

Many thanks for all the helpful replies. I've had a re-gas for £49 and my aircon is now superb. Thanks again. Ross.
