Hello all, I have a problem with my 3.0 v6 omega elite. it started cutting out so i put her in a garage for a diagnostic test which we found out the camshaft sensor needed replacing. ontop of this she run's quite hot with high pressure in the expansion tank. a block test has been done and the head gasket is fine. Any ideas what could be causing this high pressure and heat?
MANY THANKS

Firstly, I very much doubt the CAM sensor has failed on a V6. Before buying one, do a 'paperclip test' (see Maint guides index) and post results. The symptoms sound more like a CRANK sensor.
Coolant pressure - how hard are the hoses getting? Are you losing any coolant?

It's a closed system, and will build up pressure till the header tank cap releases it. You sure it's a problem, or is your garage telling porkies?
Do a paper clip test :y :y :y (in the maintenance guides somewhere ;))

no loss of coolant not that i have noticed i have only had the car 5days. also i checked the thermostat thought it might be getting stuck but the housing was empty

No stat :o
Where are you?
-
are you sure it was the stat you checked? Plenum off, fuel injection off, pig of a bolt next to dip-stick, then the stat in front of the oil cooler?
-
My location is Eastbourne. Definately no stat done a rad flush change of spark plugs an engine flush oil came out black as hell new oil new coolant and water plus cleaned breather pipes. also coil pack looks new and ht leads look new. :o
