Hi All i have just brought a 2.5 D Omega and it is leaking fuel from the sender in the boot also the fuel gage has a mind of it own up and down any ideas.
Also what do i need to stop it leaking from the sender i think it is the seal around it but what else could it be.
-
If you remove the circular panel in the boot floor you can gain access to the lid of the tank. Likely problems are either that the lid isn't sealing where it screws onto the tank or the pipes have corroded and split where they pass through the lid into the tank.

The general view on this site is that anything can be done but it depends on your skills and enthusiasm.
What parts you need depends on what you find when you access the sender. From the behaviour of the gauge I suspect the sender may be duff and the previous owner caused the leak when investigating.

Where are you DO? I have a good sender cover and seal here if you're not to far away?

Well, it's easy enough to take the panel off and have a look. Just 4 screws to undo under the carpet. :y

Bit far for me to come. As said, take the plate off and see where it is leaking from then report back.

Right people deathowl here to give you an update,
i decided tonight after getting off my tits on the fuel vapours to call ther RAC out the seal was half on and half down the fuel tank lol what a tit who ever had it off last. If this does not fix it i am going to have to change the seal does any one have a spare one i can have or i will give youa few quid for it :) Also is there any way i can check my fuel level the old owners said when you get to 20 on the fuel level you are running in the red what could casue that. i really dont want to call the rac out becasue i have run out of fuel any ideas.
Regards

Wellung has kindly offered you a seal, fitting is straight forward. Just clear this up please, you say the RAC man came out, and I assume he put the seal in correctly, if this is so, you should not have any more trouble. If you have a duff sender, you will have to replace it, again this is straight forward, but you will have to get the seal fitted right again. As for the running out of Diesel issue, your Low Fuel warning light will flash to let you know you are low. Just to be on the safe side, you can always carry spare fuel. There are some nice OOFers in South Wales by the way.

I just knew that I can rely on your kind comments Glen! :D
I'll happily have a gander, as Deathowl's only around 20 mins away from 'The Valleys Tractor Centre' - though I'm somewhat tied-up for the next few weeks.

i know if the fuel light is on i am running out :) but the old owner said the fuel gauge is wrong any way i can check it or fix with what would cause the fuel gauge to be wrong. I am praying that this has fix my fuel leak as well the seal was in the fuel tank so half on half off lol
-
Quite often you can't 'fix' a level sender - they're a simple affair usually (I believe also the case with the Omega) with a swept resistive track that eventually wears out (or gets covered in gunk & crud.)
Two possibilities would be a dodgy electrical connection to the level sender (inside the fuel tank or on the top where the electricals go into the tank) or a duff sender.
Given the annoyance of having to get your hands covered in diesel, I'd just get a known-good sender from a breakers yard and swap the assembly out in the tank, personally.

Any one know where i can get the part from or how much or any pic's anything like that

The fuel level sender with float is pictured in the last picture of the first post here: http://www.omegaowners.com/forum/YaBB.pl?num=1251298222
There's one on eBay now: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/VAUXHALL-OMEGA-2-5-TD-FUEL-LEVEL-SENDER-UNIT-/400127582628?cmd=ViewItem&hash=item5d297661a4#ht_1003wt_777

sounds to me like its the usual bullshit when the seller doesnt know that the in tank pump is shagged or dirty? 20 litres is where it wont start in the morning!!!
