Hey all. Diagnosis crankshaft seal,,auto gearbox 2.6. Sounds nasty. My auto box speacialists seems to think straight forward. Is it usually a successful repair has only started leaking since Thursday last week. Sounds horrendous to me...Anyone had this done B4....Thanks Batt45

Sorry mate but why would a leaking Crankshaft seal make your gearbox noisey?
To change the rear Crankshaft Seal the gearbox will need to be removed etc.
If the front Crankshaft Seal is leaking Cambelt & Crank Pulley will need to be removed. You will need a tool to hold the Pulley/Crank still whilst you remove the Mega Tight Crank bolt :y

No,no. Sounds nasty as in awkward to do. It is the rear seal. Thanks for reply.

Easy to damage the seal, needs a sleeve to slide the seal over to avoid damage. Any auto experienced mechanic should be able to remove the box and seal then refit. My local guy did one for 200 plus parts.

Thankyou. Not doing the repair myself,,,no way. Have an auto box specialist who i use and he mentioned about a days work £200. remember doing this repair on my old Austin All-agro years and years ago but would not touch the Omega.
