Title: Brake bleeding sequence
Post by: Greenbay packer on 18 July 2010, 22:08:52
My helpful Haynes manual notes one sequence for pre-1998 models with 3-channel ABS, and another for post-1998 models with 4-channel ABS - doesn't help much for those who, like me, have a 1998 vehicle (2.5 V6).  What is the easiest way to check if you have 3-channel or 4-channel ABS?

Check if the ABS valve block has an outlet for each wheel, or just 3 with the rear wheels sharing a single outlet.

I wouldn't regard the bleed sequence as critical, though, especially if the system has just had, e.g. a slave cylinder replaced.

Hi, on 3 channel ABS the front wheels are controlled seperately and the rear together. On 4 channel ABS all four corners seperately. I think there will be an easier way ad someone probably will advise you, but could you not find out by counting the pipes coming from your ABS pump?

Thanks, I didn't realise it was as simple as that.
