Hi, does anyone know if a spoiler from a pre face would fit a facelift estate?
-
AFAIK they have the same tailgate so shouldnt be a problem. :y
-
Thats good, thats the answer i was hoping for, ive found an irmy spoiler in star silver for mine :)
Are they bonded on or screwed?
-
they are deffo the same :y if the spoiler is new it should have a fitting kit with it. this has a pair of positioning strips which are used to locate the holes which need to be drilled in the top of the tail gate for the locating pins. it is then bonded on. you may need to get new adhesive for it. i bought one last year and the glue had gone off. :(
if it is second hand, you'll probably need to clean it off. then it should just glue on, though you might need to either drill the holes or remove the pins first so that it sits right. :y my one was also warped, so the pins helped to hold it in the right place while it set.
i think i've still got the instructions/locating pins if you need them. there are also two adaptors for the radio aerial. which one you need depends on the base fitted to the car. again i have the one i didn't use.
hope that helps. :y

Hey taxi, thanks! the instructions / locating pins may come in handy. The spoiler is 2nd hand ( i havent got it yet though)
What do u mean about the aerial adaptor? does it need to be altered with having the spoiler fitted?
Cheers! ;)
-
basically it is an angled extension, about 3/4 inch long. without it, the spoiler might rub against the aerial. to fit it, you undo the aerial, screw the adaptor into the base and then refit the aerial. simples. :y
they either have a narrow thread, or a thicker one. not sure why the difference :-/ maybe different aerials for different ice?
-
ah yea i get you now! didnt think about that. :D
-
let me know if you need the instructions etc. i'm in west sussex so getting them to you should be easy enough if you need them. :y
-
Great cheers buddy ill let you know if im lucky enough to get it! :D

There wouldn't happen to be another spoiler lying around would there? ::)

Think Ive still got one, (preface) but its still attached to tailgate though, got about the 3rd of the way with cheese wire then gave up.
-
if the tailgate is scrap, then a pry bar speeds things up a bit. depends how well it was stuck down. takes a bit of effort though. with some care it might pull off. :)
-
heat it up will come off easier

Thanks for that, yea the tailgate is scrap but didn't want to break the spoiler, hence the cheese wire method, just lost intrest in the end, will check one day in case someones wacked some extra bolts in there.

Well its sitting there collecting dust at the mo, its white still 2 3rds attached to the tailgate, from memory its the VX one so no brake leds involved, seem to remember it cost me around 60 notes, so offers around 40 would do it for me.
Just remembered as Im typing this, I do have a second hand Immerser one with Brake LED/s thats been taken off, (LEDs untested) but would want a bit more money for that one (again Preface, FL's had Prodrives from memory).
Chris.
