........do you get into the g'box ecu to update the sofware??
how and where do you get the tools for the pc to do this?
i think the ecu is causing my gearbox to destroy second gear after constantly changing down to 2 then3 then down to 4 everytime it needs to keep up with the cruise control or going up hill....... :-? :(

It's done with a Tech 2 box that plugs into a connector below your stering wheel in the fusebox area.i hope that helps.
-
You go to a main dealer who uses 'Tech 2' to upload new firmware via the diagnostic socket in the fuse box (and charges main dealer prices)
or
You contact one of the administrators of OOF who happen to have Tech 2 to do the same tech 2 prices (http://theboy.omegaowners.com/tech2/prices.shtml)
or
you contact 'The Boy' directly and arrange to post your ECU to him and have it reprogrammed (assuming he is still able to offer that service)

Wouldn't a gearbox ecu be better? ;D

Are you sure it's the ECU, if it only has issues going up hill have you checked your gearbox oil level recently.
-
oil level is bang on the line, all fresh oil at 13€ a ltr.....
it also happens when you are doing 60mph and want to increase speed a little, it jumps right upto 2nd and works its way back down missing 4th all together........ :-?

Try your local Opel dealer.
If you really want to do it yourself, get yourself a real Tech2 (eg, egay item 260615941522), a WebTIS subscription (€30 for 1 hour) and a computer.
