Dear Forum,
I have a 2.2 cd auto saloon, just fitted a new exhaust system
from the catman, which was very cheap £260. My problem is the emission light stays on andthe car is in limp mode. To get round this I have swapped the O2 sensors, but this didn't work, however if I disconnect the O2 sensor and let the engine get hot, until the fans come on, then re-start a couple of times the car comes out of limp mode and works fine. This has been a problem for nearly 3 years. I thought the new exhaust would fix the problem. Any solutions or ideas my friends.Thank you for hour advise, I'm in Chatham kent, I've had the codes cleared and the man said I had a gearbox error aswell as the emissions. He cleared them but after a few miles it went back into limp mode. I bought a new O2 sensor about a year ago, but do they actualy stop working?

To clarify...
Has this new exhaust altered the car / EML?
sounds like you had it before, thought this would cure, but it hasnt so you still have it?
Have you had the car on a code reader to check for codes?
If not, do so, if you publish you location there may be someone nearby who can help :y
All the other omegas can be read at home, but the 2.2 normally cannot (but you can try the pedal trick in the maint guides, see my sig, just in case)

Where are you mate? You need to get the codes read off and possibly some live data to figure out why the limp mode is kicking in.
