Title: x30xe idle control valve cleaning
Post by: geoffr70 on 23 July 2010, 23:53:01
Hello, I looked but couldn't find anything in the maintenance section so I'm just wondering how do I clean the ICV on an x30xe? I had it off when doing the plugs, but just lubed the rubber ribbed thing to put it back in. Is it sensitive or is there anything I should or shouldn't do? Thanks for your help!

Remove ICV, spray inside liberally with carb cleaner and swill out - repeat until all "black crud" removed and inside ICV looks clean.  DO NOT poke around inside this valve with any tool, screwdriver etc or you will ruin it.  Once clean lube inside of valve (I use 3 in 1 oil).  Refit to car - shouldn't lube rubber "grommit" as this acts as a seal!

You may have to repeat this a couple of times. :y
