Title: How can I reprogram my 2nd key
Post by: Omegajia on 27 July 2010, 16:38:48
I have a 3 button key which was working fine until the battery failed. I have replaced the battery, the LED on the keyfob now works as it should but it does not opeerate the central locking. I tried following the manual in order to reprogram the key but it doesnt work. The key works in the lock and starts the car, however when my wife uses the other key and locks it remotely, when I unlock the car the alram goes off until I put the key in the ignition and start the engine.

Hi and welcome to the forum.

Did you put the key in the ignition, turn the ignition on and then lock and unlock the car with the key still in the ignition.

Yes, I did it both manually with the first key, when this didn't work, I then tried locking and unlocking with the remote but again no joy with reprogramming the 2nd key

You need to press the buttons on the key to lock and unlock the car with the key in the ignition and the ignition turned on (position 2 from memory).  Then turn ignition off and take key out, exit the car and close door.  Then try using the buttons.... Should work.  :y

I tried this also. I put the key in Ignition at position 2 then press the unlock button (LED illuminates on the key) I then press the locked button again LED illuminates. I then take the key out of the ignition, I shut the door and try the key but nothing. It states in the manual once you press either lock or unlock on the key the doors will lock and unlock as confirmation. This does not happen. Anybody else got any other ideas please.
