Yep, if you jack up at the front jacking point and place axle stands under the front subframe members you will be able to gain sufficient access (unless you have a large beer gut!! ::) ::) :D :D)

Cheap way !  If you're lucky.  Find a high curb, ideally in a quiet spot. Plonk one side of the car, length ways up on the curb. The rake of the angle might give you enough space to crawl under.

Works in an emergency but tis somewhat dangerous all round though ?

You will not be able to do that on a V6, and especially if it has a paper filter within a canistor housing ;) ;)

Do not take front bumper off. this will not help at all.May as well take rear bumper off.Best to jack car up and use axel stands or wooden blocks. Maybe remove nearside front wheel for easier accsess also.Failing that take it to Kwik fit and get them to do it

Well BV I reckon if I was (heaven forbid!!) ever to let those monkeys loose on my canistor type oil filter they would quickly be telling me "the canistor body is moving..........we need to fit a conversion for £XXX", or it would be "the canistor body has sheared............major problem........you'll have to have it transported to a garage who can repair it!"..........or "we replaced the filter with a cartridge type [but they have never been near your canister type filter!!]" etc, etc, and not forgetting when you come to replace the filter if actually put on by them........the next garage says "who ever did the last change damaged the housing..........will have to replace for £XXX"

All fiction of course, but remembering my, and my family's, experiences with these monkeys almost guaranteed scenarios :D :D :D ;)

Actually he says it wont go on ramps at home. it could be that they are shit ramps, maybe thats why he was thinking of removing the bumper... if that is the case just get some short lengths of scaffold plank or similar and use them as a run up on to the ramps :y

Yes you have a point there ;D, but I think I might risk it if it was a disposable type!
