Title: ABS & TC ECU Repair...
Post by: Steve 1564 on 31 July 2010, 13:24:43
Hi Everyone...

Has anyone sucsessfully repaired one ?
Mine has gone intermittant - mostly off - somtimes the "My Naff Code Reader" can communicate with it (in fault condition) and all the wheel sensors work (when in fault condition)...
I think it may be the PCB issue that has been discussed on here before -
But noticed that VX had a service bulitin re air con condensation dripping on the ECU... (mine went west 2 days aft having the AC fixed) the air con has a leak so isnt working now & the fault went away for a few days

Got Access to soldering (SMT ect)

I haven't heard of anyone doing so.

I guess it must be possible as the specialist companies can do it.

Check the "How-To" guides here. Somewhere there is a picture of the ECU opened up showing the broken track. Apparently the tracks are steel and the joints are pressure welds - so soldering (without damaging surrounding components) is all but impossible.

Professional refurb costs around £130 and the guys I used (ECU-Testing) turned my unit round in a day or so.
