I can not remember the way to work out the MPG. Last night i put £20 of v-power at 1.09 has have had 130 out of the car most on the motorways . I think this is about 32mpg.
Could anyone tell me the way to check this.
Thanks
steve.

One gallon = 4.5461 litres.
-
£20 at 1.09/litre = 18.35 litres
18.35 litres / 4.546 = 4.04 gallons
130 miles / 4.04 gallons = 32.2 MPG
Pretty good by my reckoning!

Thats great Steve, your very cleverer than me :y
-
So, 20/1.09=18.35 l=4.03 gallons
130/ 4.03=32.25 mpg
-
£20 at 1.09/litre = 18.35 litres
18.35 litres / 4.546 = 4.04 gallons
130 miles / 4.04 gallons = 32.2 MPG
Pretty good by my reckoning!
Great minds (calculators) think alike Paul :y

20 quids worth at 1.09: 20/1.09 = 18.35 litres
18.35/4.54 = 4.04 gallons
130/4.04 = 32.18 MPG
:y
For accuracy, best bet is to brim the tank, reset the ODO, then drive for a couple of tanks, keeping the reciepts, then brim it again and work out the consumption over the whole lot.
... Or just don't do it cos it's too depressing.

Thanks for that all.Very true it is depressing and that was with a very light right foot. Not bad as there was some town driving too. :y.
Would that seem right for a 3.2?.

Steve is much, much, much cleverer than me, sure he'll be able to advise :y
For a 3.2, I'd be well happy.

Hows that emissions light?

Assuming it's an automatic, I'd say that's very good. I've never got close to that, and mine's a manual. Saying that, I've never measured it on a purely motorway run sitting on the cruise control, and in all other driving scenarios I do have a heavy right foot.

It must have been with a very light right foot indeed!
There's certainly no problem there.
I have achieved 36 MPG before, but that's including nothing more than accelerating down a slip road onto a motorway, cruising at 70 for a few hours and exiting a slip road into another services.
As soon as you start adding any urban driving the average takes a dive.

Just reset the trip computer when you've last filled it up!! ;) I once compared the computer with the actuall brim-to-brim readings and it wasn't far off, so just use that now.

Not back as yet and this is after trying that Cleanacat product last week thanks DTM.
Kevin you are right as soon as i got back to Urban driving to was like looking at a count down clock. 32- 31- 30 -29..... :P
Thanks all.
Steve.

I must say I was suprised and impressed with the MPG from the 3.2 Elite I sold. Its much better than my 3.0 :'(
-
Thinking back i think that this is a littel better than my old but much missed 3.0. The old thing with the 3.2 is that Emmison light for me. Not on now will see how long it last for.
-
Best I managed with MV6 3.0l auto was 33mpg over an 1800m run. Lots of motorway, but fair amount of popping to shops/beach/town....
-
I work it out as
(Miles / Litres) * 4.54 = MPG :y
