Jack both side and wiggle all the joints, and rock the road wheels at 12 and 6 o'clock for wheel baring play, and 3 and 9 for track rod play, drop links give a high frequency rattle, steering joints and baring can knock over bigger bumps when bad enough. Chesk wishbone bushes are firmly held, and steering idler has no vertical play.

I had a loud noise coming from my front suspension, I was convinced it was the strut top mounts such was the racket. Local garage said it was the drop links but I didn't believe it but changed them anyway and it cured the noise completely. To say I was amazed would be an understatement. ;D
