Has anyone tried this seller or heard about these?
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/VAUXHALL-OMEGA-94-04-2-X-LOWER-WISHBONE-ARMS-NEW-/330412300642?cmd=ViewItem&pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item4cee1b9962
If not, any other suggestions?
Also, do all omegas use the same part number for wishbones...as I want to purchase these for my US Catera and they are much cheaper in the UK.
Thanks!

By OEM from www.allgermanparts.co.uk if Jason will ship stateside.
-
just had a look, over 500 dollars per side for delco ones. :o :o
-
Lemforders from Autovaux ...
Telephone 01924 376003
worth a ring as they don't list them on the website .. :)
-
I bought a pair from them 2 years ago and they are starting to fail (I think as I haven't actually checked them ::)) so I've ordered another pair yesterday. I did some 50k miles on them and, as I can change them myself in a little over 3 hours for the pair, I don't object to doing them every couple of years! It also makes sure I have the alignment checked :y
I wouldn't advise cheap ones if you are paying someone to do it though!
-
Lemforder only IMO.
-
In my experience cheap Ebay specials last 18 months to 2 years max before they're either noticably clunking about, or at least the alignment is so bad you're shredding the inner edges of your front tyres. Even if the Ebay ad says 'ignore the other cheap tat - these are top quality - honestly'.
If you dont mind changing them that regularly then fine, but also factor in cost of alignment every time and possible severely shortened tyre life and cheap bones dont seem such a great economy.
So I went for the Lemforders from Allgermanparts this time.
Then my engine destroyed itself in less than 100 miles.
Life sucks :)

those are nonames.. try lemforder or febi.. wbay is cheap because mainly is about noname merchandise and fail verry fast.
omega is a heavy car wich eats through the wishbone bushes verry fast if they are not of quality. i prefer to change only the bushes or ball joints.. never changed the entire wishbone

Right, changed mine today and fitted these ones again. I'm actually quite impressed. They were starting to fail... N/S Front bush just beginning to tear, O/S Rear bush had come unbonded.
TBH, I'll stand by my previous comment. These are fine if you happy to fit them yourself as they lasted 2 years (and I must confess I didn't tighten the front bushes with the suspension loaded last time but have this time) and, like me, feel that 2 years is plenty long enough to go without a Geometry set up ;)
I'll see what this set are like but certainly got what I expected... If these last 2 years as well that'll be 4 years for £100 :y
How long do the Lemforder ones normally last?

But dont we need to add two set ups to the total bill?
My thinking on lemforder life is at least 4 years, ie. warrany period originally, plus a bit more or less depending on use, maybe? Seeing as i have heavy duty bushes pressed by the master Markdtm i wont be able to report on the lemforders.
-
I have just bought super cheap wishbones with bushes (less than £45 per pair) form a guy on ebay.
Reason being, that the wishbones on my MV6 are superb, but the outer bushes are sh***ed, so stick the cheapies on, and re-bush the GM 'bones.
With Rose joints and Neoprene inners.
Add some stitch welding, should last a lifetime!!!
Oh, the Rose joints will be erm, "borrowed for fully testing" from work.
The Neoprene bushes will be made at work.
But then the best laid plans, etc. ::)

Where would one acquire a set of these aforementioned Rose Joints and Neoprene Bushes? How many pennies would one require spending? *strokes chin*

True... But with the quality of the roads in this country we should really be getting the geometry checked Annually, or at least every 2 years so not really any different.
TBH, in 2 years this car will have over 200k on the clock (if I still own it) and may well be approaching the end of it's useful life. If not, I bang another pair in... Only takes 3 hours or so! :y

Me please, pretty please.
Actually sounds like a good plan, there has also been a thread mentioning the powerflex bushes this week.

No idea really - someone ike Demon Tweeks might be able to help?
We make deep sea ROV's, I can't see the boss being very accommodating if a whole bunch of people suddenly wanted random car bushes making up on our machines!
Like I say, mine shall be 'borrowed' from work to undergo some long term testing :y

I bought a pair from this lot 2 and a bit years back. And failed MOT yesterday on o/s and advised nearside.
-
If you're shipping to the US I would consider buying just the bushes and pressing them into your old wishbones. Will cut down on the postage cost considerably.
You will need a decent (10 ton +) press and some drifts that fit the bushes perfectly to avoid damage, though.

That's about the life I got from mine... Not too horrendous if you can DIY the change I suppose :-/
For me, I don't mind as it forces me to go and get the geometry done every couple of years as the roads around here are not particularly good ::)
-
Thanks all for the help. I ended up buying the 2 control arms from vauxhallpartswarehouse on ebay. Shipping doubled the price, but I was only a little over the US cost of only the bushes. The arms were quite rusty too, so I think it's going to be a good change.
-
Got the car back today after having the wishbones installed. It has great control now and I'm very pleased. High marks to the seller mentioned before for a total part price less than 1/5 what I would have dished out here in the states.

estaszew what was the issue before that the change fixed? I got the wishbones but not installed yet from the same eBay seller (vauxhallpartswarehouse on eBay) who are absolutely great people.
Cheers.

There was a loud clunk from the front of the vehicle when going over bumps, speed bumps, etc which could also be felt. I no longer have to drive extremely slow over these road irregularities to prevent this. Steering is now tighter and I used to have a significant shudder in the steering wheel while braking (but this could have been resolved by replacing an outer tie-rod which was done at the same time).
-
Make sure they tightened the front wishbone bolts with the front wheels fully loaded or the bushes will not last.
Interestingly, my lemforder bushes have only lasted 2 years......

It could well be :P

Hmmm... Now that is interesting. The cheapo ones on mine had (obviously) gone quite slowly but were still an MOT Pass in March so I'm pretty impressed with 2 years, especially as I didn't load the suspension when I tightened the ones that came off :-[ :-[ ::)

....I'm in real trouble now then. ;D
....so if fitted new at the factory would not have lasted the warranty period? Different/cheeper bush material?
-
.... Different/cheeper bush material?
As said before, just because something is made in the same factory as A N Other named brand, doesn't mean that they're made to the same spec. HP beanz are made at Kitt Green .... but they're not the same as the proper beanz. ;)

Exactly my point Andy. Or question I should say.

At least they can spell it when they print the label, though. :P

On my Elite I had VX installed (yeah I know more money than sense) and they only lasted 20-25k miles, the set I have just ordered are el cheapos....
-
I've fitted four sets to mine, the current set are doing best at around 30k miles but I think they're starting to crack a bit now....
The FAI ones were probably the best quality cheap ones (nicest made).
The cheapest were from buypartsby.co.uk and the current set are from them and are still going at 30k miles....
I now consider wishbones a consumable on an Omega...

Me too... I can't complain at a touch over 2 years and 50k from a £50 cheapie pair of wishbones, especially if MDTM is only getting 2 years from Lemforder ones at twice the price ;)

The control arms purchased from Vauxhallpartswarehouse on ebay have failed on me. The bushings didn't last 21 days and now I'm likely going to have to replace the control arms as I can't trust that they are true Delphi or that the other parts aren't going to fail either. They did a lot of damage to my new tires too.
-
Oh dear :o :(
It's a lottery going for ebay cheapies, but even so, 21 days is ridiculous! Sounds like they must have been installed incorrectly an torqued up with the wheels in the air.
You never know - maybe they'll make good on their warranty? If you had one. Worth a try.

Don't fit Delphi, bushes on the ones I've seen are far too soft, useless in fact.
The Lemforders on the allgermanparts web site have a 2 year warranty.

this all sounds horribly familiar :'(

Quick update. The seller sold me legit goods - he told me "as of this morning Delphi have issued a product recall on all unfitted Omega Arms sold from week 52D which is Mid December 2009." Vauxhallpartswarehouse gave me a full refund and is going to work on the rest of the reimbursement. Turns out they're good people, as I originally thought and you guys said. Just a little bad luck I suppose.
-
Wow great service - I'll bear them in mind for future items. But use the refund to get some Lemforders from allgerman :y

good news indeed :)
looks like chrisgixers' final thoughts on my delphi arms were spot on. :y
i'll be giving my supplier a buzz in the morning.

Everyone mentions that Lemforder are the genuine artical but if they only last for 2 years I find that hard to believe being honest. I have seen Genuine Vx ones on cars for years and thousands of miles. :-?

main thing with this is Delphi have a major problem on thier hansds wth thier Wishbone bushes, rediculously soft. But good they are sortingjthe problem, they are dangerous.
But yes, i see your point Daz, something doesn't add up, however lemforder are still the most reliable product, no?
Also depends how you drive i would think?
Tunnies you can ecpect to last a nuclear winter, The Boys conciderably shorter.
And as Andyb says there is nothing to say they are still made to the same standard now the omega is out of production.
But someone has a better option then lets hear it..?

Wouldn't like to put money on it but the cheapies I bought are lasting just as long as Lemforder ones at half the price ::) ::)

Correct me if I'm wrong, but aren't MarkDTM's two-year Lemforders a one-off 'anomaly' so far?

Guess so, mine just failed, and seem to remember the batch we all bought are meyle, not lemforder as I thought before, although they look identical????
Anyway, if they last less then 2 years they are under warranty from all German parts, if more, and I would expect them to last more than 2 years then all the better.
Depends what suits your wallet at the time I suppose, half the the problem is knowing what your getting, Delphi being a prime example, I believe they where also an oe supplier at one point, and here we are with a recall apparently.
I'm over posting on this subject, let someone else have a go....
Maybe a poll to find peoples experiences?

Sorry to hear about your experience. I also bought a pair but never installed and kept for spare. Vauxhallpartswarehouse gave me a full refund including shipping and asked me to dump the wishbones in a rubbish bin. Definitely a Delphi issue and perhaps good to hear from Andy H and others with more experience. Regards.
